Every Monday for the last five years, one of the best pro-jazz jam sessions in Chicago has been hosted by a little known Serbian restaurant in West Irving Park. Find out why the house band chose the Serbian Village Restaurant to hold the session, how much Tommy Muellner (piano) would prefer it if you didn't drink his liquor, what Kelly Sill (bass) thinks young conservatory whiz-kids could use more of, & what Phil Gratteau (drums) loves about these nights.

If you think you can hang with these pros, then head over to 3144 W Irving Park and meet the house...

Unhinged: 3 Soloists, 2 Pianos, 6 Hands

"A mad dash of 30 fingers over 176 keys, a tidal wave of notes, a floor keyboard. How can the music of Stravinsky, Gershwin, Poulenc, Michael Jackson and Coldplay coexist within the same concert? Anderson and Roe, called “the most dynamic piano duo of this generation,” and award-winning piano prodigy Clayton Stephenson will provide the answers in this piano-centric concert that will push the instrument to the absolute limit."

4th City Rag / Bremer & The No Goods / Brother Lee & The Leather Jackals / Clamor & Claw

Our friends Clamor and Claw are joining 4th City Rag, Bremer & The No Goods, and Brother Lee & The Leather Jackals on September 2nd at Quenchers Saloon! Tickets available at Ticket Web!
4TH CITY RAG

4th City Rag fuses psychobilly and fast country picking to create one of a kind hard hitting Rock n' Roll. Hailing from St. Louis Missouri 4th City Rag's popularity has quickly risen in part to the trio's rowdy fast paced live shows. Led by guitarist and lead singer Matt Maher, 4th City Rag was nominated for Blues Band of the Year in 2016 by the River Front Times. The band is currently touring their first major release HOT DAMN.

BREMER & THE NO GOODS

Matt Bremer, Vinny Keel, Jake Bone, Kurt Klein, and James Capone: Five Chicago gents who got together to produce straight up Rock 'N' Roll without any bullshit, but with plenty of booze. The music speaks for itself and is assured to leave pants down, hearts a pound and minds loud!

BROTHER LEE & THE LEATHER JACKALS

Brother Lee & the Leather Jackals is a St. Louis outfit of snakes that hiss and spit chords and chaos of 60s-70s blues-infused rock and roll. The three piece’s knack for reptilian antics manifests during their live sets. Ribald commentary, inside jokes, unintentional stage dives: the Jackals live and breathe the devil-may-care ethos of our cold-blooded comrades.
CLAMOR AND CLAW

The Clamor and Claw Sextet drops you deep in the belly of early New Orleans jazz, then lifts you high in the Vaudeville sky. Frontwoman Lisa Hastings brings down the house with her enchanting vintage vocals, as her backing band of multi-instrumentalists surprise and delight audiences with their raucous melodies. Come cut a rug with that little band with the big swing sound, The Clamor and Claw Sextet!

Thirsty Ears - Classical Street Music Festival

Chicago is a street festival kind of town.  Every summer the city’s streets come alive with food, live music and entertainment.  But, from our perspective, there’s always been something missing: a classical music street festival.

ACM is proud to present the Thirsty Ears Festival: Chicago’s first and only street fest celebrating classical music.  We’re closing Wilson street between Hermitage and Ravenswood to feature eight stellar ensembles and soloists performing music by composers from around the world on the main stage.

We’ll also have food trucks, delicious beer from Artisanal Imports, vendor booths and kid friendly activities from 1:00 to 4:00.

$5 suggested donation, all proceeds support the ACM School of Music.

The Main Stage Lineup
1:00   Ravenswood Trio
1:45   Odyssey Quintet
2:30  Peter Ferry Percussion

Nicholas David & @TheFeelin Band at Minneapolis Aquatennial - TARGET Fireworks

[From AQUATENNIAL] : Join us for the Target Fireworks, set to take place Saturday, July 23 at 10:00 pm. One of the country’s largest annual fireworks displays. Watch the Target Fireworks light up the Minneapolis sky! Come early for Aquatennial Pre-Fireworks Festivities beginning at 6 pm and enjoy food trucks, your favorite festival treats, live music and much more. A full schedule of the pre-fireworks festivities and music lineup will be announced soon.

Viewing Tips

Come early to get your viewing spot—bring sunscreen for the afternoon and bug spray for the evening. The best spots are between Gold Medal Park and the 3rd Avenue Bridge on West River Parkway. It’s not unusual for people to begin staking out their spots along the Mississippi Riverfront in the morning, so to ensure your best viewing location be sure to head downtown with time to spare!

Part of the experience is enjoying the music that accompanies the Target Fireworks, which are choreographed and synced together. Tune into Go 96.3 FM and enjoy the simulcast of music set to the Target Fireworks display! Learn more about the Target Fireworks below in our “Fast Facts.”

While you’re waiting for the Target Fireworks and the pre-fireworks festivities to begin, don’t miss out on other Aquatennial events that are taking place along the Mississippi Riverfront. Twin Cities CariFest is approximately 1.5 miles up the road, a leisurely walk or bike ride away. Take a stroll and enjoy an afternoon out and about in Minneapolis while enjoying multiple Aquatennial events!

#PianosInTheParks with Make Music Chicago

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MAKE MUSIC CHICAGO

Pianos At Chicago Parks & Beaches Let You Tickle The Ivories Under The Sun

ROGERS PARK — At Loyola Beach Park, the sound of an upright piano has joined the swelling chorus of crashing waves, laughter, bike bells and seagulls.

It sits on a small concrete slab surrounded by sunken benches and a walking path just west of where the city meets the sand along the beach.

Linze Rice on another way to enjoy Chicago parks.

The piano is one of seven placed across the city's parks and beaches through Make Music Chicago's Pianos in the Parks program. The pianos were provided by Keys 4/4 Kids, a Southwest Side nonprofit that refurbishes old pianos for sale or donation.

Until Aug. 1, anyone can sit and play at the pianos during Park District hours.

Once you pull out the bench and sit down, the overlooking views of a turquoise Lake Michigan (and similarly turquoise Crepes on the Beach shack), it's hard not to try to pound out a tune.
